Solihull based Acupuncturist & Somatic Experiencing Practitioner
Hi, I’m Kirsty Garland — a fully qualified acupuncturist with over 20 years of experience, now integrating Somatic Experiencing into my work.
My approach combines Traditional Five Element Acupuncture & Somatic Experiencing. Both modalities are effective and yet gentle ways of bridging the wellness gap in our health care. Western medicine pays attention to symptoms and drugs; with a Daoist approach we do not force the body to be a certain way. We recognise that our experiences have brought us to where we are, and with the proper movement of energy, health on all levels can be restored. The ultimate aim is reconnecting with the body — creating the conditions for real healing, not just short-term relief.
I started my Acupuncture training in 2000 at the College of Traditional Acupuncture in Leamington Spa. From my very first lecture it felt like I was re-learning an approach that ultimately made much more sense to me than seeing the body in isolation.
Since qualifying I've done further training including Fertility and Gynaecology with Jani White, Paediatrics with June Tranmer and Cancer Care with Beverley De Valoise.
I’ve worked at Broad Oaks Health Clinic and Breast Cancer Haven, and I’m a registered member of the British Acupuncture Council.
In 2021 I started my training to become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, graduating in 2024. Somatic Experiencing is a therapeutic approach developed by Dr Peter Levine. This approach emphasises the profound impact of trauma on the body and aims to restore the natural balance of the nervous system. Since qualifying I have deepened my interest in women's health with further training into Birth Trauma with Kate White.
The care I offer is grounded, trauma-aware, and focused on long-term transformation.
I'm committed to not only my own health but to yours. As an Acupuncturist and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner I am committed to 'walking the walk', so that I can hold space for you when you need it.
