Somatic Experiencing Questions

Where did you train?

I trained at SOSI London, a reputable Somatic Experiencing training institute that provides comprehensive education in Peter Levine's approach to trauma healing. My training has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to work effectively with clients experiencing trauma, stress, and various other challenges using body-based therapeutic techniques.

What does a session look like?

A typical Somatic Experiencing session involves gentle body awareness and tracking sensations as they arise. We work at your pace, allowing time for your nervous system to process and integrate experiences. I create a safe, supportive space where you can explore your body's wisdom and natural healing capacity. Sessions are collaborative, with your comfort and readiness guiding the process every step of the way.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on individual needs and the nature of what you're working with. Some clients benefit from a few sessions, while others may work together for several months. We take it at your pace and discuss your progress regularly to determine what works best for you. There's no one-size-fits-all approach—we'll explore what feels right for your healing journey.

Is Somatic Experiencing suitable for everyone?

Somatic Experiencing can be beneficial for a wide range of conditions including trauma, stress, anxiety, and various other challenges. I am aware of autism and ADHD and able to work successfully with these conditions. SE is adaptable and can be tailored to meet individual needs and sensitivities. If you have specific concerns about whether SE is right for you, I encourage you to discuss your situation during an initial consultation so we can determine the best approach together.

Do you work over zoom?

Yes, I offer both in-person and online Zoom sessions to provide flexibility and accessibility for my clients. Whether you prefer to meet in person or connect virtually, we can work together in the way that feels most comfortable and convenient for you. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person work, and many clients appreciate the option to receive support from the comfort of their own space.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Acupuncture Painful?

Acupuncture needles are extremely fine and are solid rather than hollow. Most people feel only a slight tingling or dull ache. Many experience a pleasant sense of relaxation during treatment.

What Happens During The Consultation?

The first consultation lasts about an hour. We'll discuss your health history and any issues in detail. I will also take your pulse, examine your tongue, and possibly carry out a gentle physical examination if needed.

What are you doing when you take my pulses?

Each acupuncture meridian is associated with a pulse. Reading the pulses gives information about the balance of energy within your body and helps guide your treatment plan.

What are you looking for when you ask to see my tongue?

The tongue reveals a lot about your internal health. I look at color, shape, texture, and coating — all of which provide important clues about your body’s energy and vitality.

How often will I need treatment?

Every person is unique. Some feel significant change after just a few sessions, while others with more chronic issues may benefit from a longer course. Initially, weekly sessions are common before treatments are spaced further apart.
